# Support

Last updated: October 31, 2026

Authenticator is an independent app for managing standard time-based (TOTP) and counter-based (HOTP) verification codes on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Basic offline use does not require an Authenticator account.

### Contact support

Email: <pmfeedback@foxmail.com>\
Please include your app version, device model, OS version, and a short description of the issue. Never send a setup key, QR code, current verification code, recovery code, backup passphrase, or unredacted vault file. Redact account identifiers and sensitive details from screenshots.

### Add and manage an account

Use the add button to scan a QR code, select a QR image, or enter the setup key provided by your service. On Mac, Scan Current Screen reads visible QR codes after macOS screen-recording permission is granted. Confirm the preview, save the account, and return to the original service to finish enrollment. Only services that offer standard TOTP/HOTP are supported; proprietary push approvals are not supported.

### Copy, edit, and recover

Click or tap an account row to copy its current code. Swipe left to reveal edit and delete actions; Mac also provides a context menu. Deleted accounts move to Recently Deleted and can be restored. Deleting an account from this app does not turn off two-step verification at the original service.

### If a code is rejected

Enable automatic date and time, check the service/account and code expiry, and use a fresh code. For HOTP, use only one primary device to advance the counter. Your service may need to resynchronize the counter. Do not remove a working authenticator until you can sign in using the replacement or a recovery method.

### Backups and device changes

Export an encrypted backup with a separate passphrase and keep that passphrase safely. A forgotten backup passphrase cannot be reset by support. Test restoration before removing the original copy. Migration QR codes contain setup secrets: share them only with a device you control.

### Optional iCloud and Apple Watch

If your installed version provides iCloud sync, enabling it requires an Apple Account, iCloud, and iCloud Keychain. Sync takes place while the app is unlocked and in the foreground; disabling sync does not delete existing cloud data. Do not rely on cloud recovery until you have checked it on your own devices. A paired Apple Watch can receive selected TOTP accounts from iPhone; HOTP is not sent to Watch.

### App lock and permissions

App lock is optional and uses your device's system authentication. This app does not receive your biometric templates or device passcode. Camera access is used for QR scanning, and selected images are processed locally. Mac screen capture is only started when you request it; captures are processed in memory rather than saved as screenshot files.

### Lost device or inaccessible account

Use the original service's recovery codes or contact that service. We cannot recover missing setup secrets, unlock the original service account, or reset an Apple Account. A screenshot of a code is not a safe long-term backup.

### Languages

English is the default documentation language. A full Simplified Chinese version is provided on this site. Availability and requirements can vary by platform and installed app version. This app is not affiliated with Google, Microsoft, or other authentication providers. No response time is guaranteed.
